What are Acquired Brain Injuries?

Brain injuries are usually life-changing. Even seemingly small injuries to the brain can require recovery care and ongoing services until a person can feel like themselves or close their previous selves.

Some common causes of non-traumatic brain injuries include:

  • Stroke/Aneurysm (Hemorrhage, Blood Clot)

  • Lack of Oxygen (Drowning, Choking, Strangulation, Heart Attack, Blood Loss, etc).

  • Infectious Diseases/Fevers/Meningitis

  • Tumors/Cancer

  • Encephalitis

  • Seizure

  • Metabolic Disorders

  • Neurotoxic Poisoning (Carbon Monoxide, etc.)

  • Drug Overdose
